Rain slicks the asphalt outside a subterranean neon fabrication workshop in the garment district, where glowing violet argon tubes hum in the dark. Beside the master glass-bending bench, workshop founder Cassian Vane lies sprawled across a shattered transformer, his skull fractured and scorched by high-voltage discharge. It is 3:00 AM, the city is asleep above, and the smell of ozone and burning flux hangs thick in the damp basement air.
