Privacy notice
Murder Daily is operated by the publisher, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. We keep the smallest amount of data needed to run the game, and we do not sell any of it.
What we collect
- Guest players: a random device ID stored in your browser, your case progress and streak, and the questions you ask in a case.
- Account holders: your email address and login credentials, plus your case results, questions asked and streak.
- Pro members: your membership status and billing period. Card details are collected and held by Stripe, our payment processor — we never see or store them.
- Technical data: IP address and device/browser identifiers used for security and to operate the service.
Why we use it and our legal basis
- Running the game and your account (performance of our contract with you).
- Keeping your history and streak in sync between devices (contract).
- Security, fraud prevention and abuse detection (legitimate interests).
- Improving the game through aggregated usage patterns (legitimate interests).
Who we share it with
- Stripe, which processes Pro membership payments and stores your payment method under its own privacy policy. We receive only your subscription status — never your card number.
- Service providers that host and operate the game (cloud hosting and database, authentication and AI providers), under their own data-processing terms.
- Professional advisers and authorities where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, your account and case history are deleted or anonymised within 30 days, except records we must retain by law. Guest data lives in your own browser and is removed when you clear your browser storage; unanswered guest game records are cleaned up periodically.
Security
We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security on stored records.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Email us at contact@murderdaily.com and we will respond — in most cases within one month — and we will delete your account and case history on request. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
