On the thirty-second floor of the Sovereign Club, the city lights sprawl below like a circuit board in the rain. Inside the private salon, the smell of aged bourbon and expensive tobacco is ripped apart by the sharp tang of cordite. Evander Callow sits slumped in his leather wingback chair behind a green-felt poker table, a single .32-caliber gunshot wound through his crisp linen shirt.
